May 4th,
Just returned from Birmingham after a wonderful weekend immersed in teaching anatomy for their teacher training program led by Akasha Ellis. What a fine group of yogins they have in the current training cycle, so enthusiastic in their truth–seeking and hunger for what makes things tick! Thanks to Akasha, LeAnn, and Terri for the hospitality!
Ayla loves to try on Mommy’s clothes, and Mommy is getting very good with the camera.
Ayla is fourteen months old today. Over the weekend while I was away she suddenly started signing with much enthusiasm. We have been signing with her for some time but all of a sudden she loves it. Margi is teaching
her spanish, and I am learning with my daughter. She asks for more, she asks to take a nap, she asks for her brother Zev with a funny gesture of her hand over her mouth. Perhaps the most hilarious is her sign for dog. Ayla
loves dogs — she flips every time she sees one. Our friend Katrina sits for Ayla and brought her sweet dog Ella last week. Ella must have taught Ayla how to sign for dog because now Margi says “perrito?”
and Ayla pants exactly like Ella. Her tongue sticks out and everything. It’s hilarious. Margi and I are constantly in awe of the sparkling personality and creativity of our kids.

A recent picture of fuzzy little Ayla.
It has been entirely too long without any news. Such is life with a new baby. Margi and I have been sweetly immersed in the depths of parenting. Ayla is insanely wonderful and not a day goes by
without our feeling grateful beyond words. At nine or ten months of age she started dancing intuitively, moving from side to side and now lately she just moves in every direction. She doesn’t sleep much
at night, and never has, so we are presented with the ultimate life–practice. Ayla turned one this past March. We can't believe it. The boys are great with her and are learning to hold space for their
sister.
Yoga here continues to evolve, and in workshops and local classes the practice becomes more and more integrated and simplified. We are enjoying a wonderful deconstruction of asana, in such a way as to find the essence of the original pose, as nature and intuition first brought it forth. This passion has saturated the vibe of local classes, and a transformation is well underway in both the humility and dynamism of the practice. I have begun to take this work out to workshops and it seems to be received well — very refreshing.
The beach at Haramara during sunset. We sure will miss this during level 2!
Yogananta teacher training started last year in December near Sayulita, Mexico at Haramara. It was simply stunning at
Haramara, and as it turned out, it was so beautiful that it became a distraction to our training. In other obvious ways it enhanced what we experienced. We decided after our first session that it would
better serve the program to hold it here in Santa Fe. We have an excellent group forming for level 2 June 5th – 12th, and
we are looking forward to our continued depth of studies.
Dates for level 3 should be set very soon, and all the information will be posted to the training schedule and registration pages. We are trying to secure the same venue for both of the 2009 sessions, and should know in the next day or two where we’ll be.
Yoga Alliance made us official as a Registered Yoga School at the 200 hour level. You can look up Yogananta on their site here. Make sure you enter USA first to search for all schools within the country, then scroll down to the bottom and you can search the results by school name. Just search for yogananta.
Happy birthday Dad!
