class descriptions

All classes are taught with a progressive and creative application of techniques borrowed from classical systems to dynamically revitalize and awaken core strength and flexibility, while bringing profound awareness to the natural gift of breath. The underlying passion throughout is for the realization of inner wisdom, and the union of mind and body in the meeting place of the heart.

It is important to point out that variations are given in many poses to facilitate students' needs to step up or down in difficulty. Guidance is detailed and sequencing is therapeutic, organized, and organic.

All Levels classes are open to all practitioners. However, keep in mind that it is inevitable that the beginner may be a bit overwhelmed, as the options to bring intensity up or down in a given asana are limited. All levels classes usually average closer to an intermediate level.

Level 2 intermediate classes are the workhorse hours, where we really get into the deeper aspects of the fundamental practice, bringing home the key points of alignment and breath, establishing a foundation for a life long personal practice.

Level 2-3 classes are where we investigate the deeper levels of anatomical and energetic balance in the individual experience. Although we explore more difficult asanas, the bottom line in this class is the real therapeutic essence of yogasana, and how to practice both simple and so called "advanced" poses in ways that are supportive of personal healing, strengthening, and opening to the depth of the subtle practice.

Vinyasa classes are a fun, yet challenging blend of flowing asana sequence, set to mindful music in a meditative atmosphere. The idea is to really escape the entrapments of the mind, paying a bit less attention to detail, while diving headlong into breath, the flow of prana, and the joy of the awakening soul.

If you enjoy what you do, you'll never work another day in your life. —Confucius
